COVID-19 support for business


The year is well and truly underway with a few more curve balls coming our way, so we'll keep this short and sweet. Outlined below are two options for financial support available for employers that have staff needing to isolate while waiting for a COVID-19 test result, or are required to isolate as they have been deemed a close contact. 

Short-term absence payment 

This is aimed at those employers whose staff are unable to work from home and are needing to self-isolate while waiting for the COVID-19 test results. 
Key points:

  1. $359 one-off payment
  2. You can only apply once every 30-day period per employee (unless medically advised they need another test).
  3. Only for employees who cannot work from home

Leave support scheme 

This is aimed at employers whose staff have been advised to self isolate and are unable to work from home.
Key points:

  1. $600/week for Full-time and $359/week for part-time
  2. Only available if they need to isolate for 4 + days
  3. Only for employees who cannot work from home
  4. You can't apply for a 2nd payment until the employee has had to isolate for 11+ days (i.e. first 3 days = no payment, next 7 days = 1 payment etc)
