A new chapter at PKF Dunedin

Staying true to its family values, there is a changing of the guard within PKF Dunedin with CEO Jono Bredin transferring his shareholding to current senior team members Alison Glover, Ben McCormack, and Howard Tilbury. They will join Peter McCormack on 1 January 2022 as the owners of PKF Dunedin.

After 11 years of developing and transforming the firm, Jono is taking the opportunity to be closer to family and is moving to Hawkes Bay. To help maintain continuity within the business, Jono will continue to work remotely for PKF Dunedin as a consultant, retaining his pivotal status as Head of Tax for PKF Dunedin and PKF New Zealand and maintaining point of contact with his key clients. To Jono the timing felt right to move on, “This move was always in the long-term plan and with a young family, the readiness of the team here, and the chance to still be involved, it felt right to hand the running of the business over to Alison, Ben, Howard and Peter.”

Having the continuity with Jono staying involved in the firm, and Peter as a seasoned campaigner, the new owners will have access to some guiding hands as they start to shape the business. The firm is in very capable hands with Alison, Ben and Howard having great skillsets and key relationships with many of our clients and across the wider business community. They are all active members in the community with several Director roles on local organisations, rotary, and business groups.

Peter is excited at the prospect of helping the younger generation take ownership and mentoring them. From the founding organisation in 1925 of Mitson, Bell and Co, family-based values have been a key component in its long history. These translate well into the predominantly small and medium sized family-owned businesses that we love to work with. The firm is coming up to its centenary celebrations, so the timing of this change is significant, especially with Alison making history as the first female owner.

It is important to our clients that there will be minimal disruption to our day-to-day operations. Jono will work remotely but be available via phone, email, or video conference. As always, the rest of the Dunedin based team will be available for any face-to-face meetings. While everyone in the office will miss Jono’s booming voice and expertise, we are fortunate to have another high-level rugby referee in Fraser Hannon to help clarify internal arguments about referee’s particular decisions!

Peter, Alison, Ben, Howard and the PKF Dunedin team look forward to continuing to work with you.
